We started this project with a dilapidated old mini-cottage - nearly every part of the building was beyond repair. We redesigned the floor plan, expanded the footprint, and with our clients came up with an entirely new structure. Totaling around 500sqft, this tiny studio cottage is a complete renovation. We raised the ceilings, giving our front wall room to hold four massive 8ft tall windows and creating a huge feeling of openness to the interior. If you look at the first picture, you can see we designed the exterior of the cottage to match the existing main house - siding, windows, roof, and trim all tie together beautifully.
The interior boasts a kitchenette, full bathroom, and a walk-in closet. Recessed lighting with black trim matches the modern look of the interior, and abundance of windows ensures ample light and airflow (and airflow is becoming even more important with our new extra-hot summers).
